Clash Detection - RFI Management
GENx Design & Technology revolutionizes clash detection with our RFI Management in Revit and incorporates cutting-edge engineering design coordination. We address the challenges faced by the industry. through effective collaboration among stakeholders such as structural engineers, architects, contractors, and suppliers.
Understanding BIM Clash Detection
Clash detection forms a crucial part of integrated BIM modeling, where a comprehensive master model is created, integrating design models from various engineering disciplines. In the face of tight project timelines, clash detection through Building Information Modeling (BIM) accelerates projects by identifying clashes in design models. This proactive approach helps architects and contractors avoid multi-level design changes, preventing budget overshoots and project delays.
Our Approach to Clash Detection:
GENx Design & Technology’s innovative workflow seamlessly integrates clash detection into the design process. Here’s a breakdown of our four-step approach:
- Establish RFI Schedule Parameters in Revit: Implementing a robust RFI Schedule involves defining Multi-Category project parameters to document RFIs. Key parameters include Clash Name, Clash Cleared (Yes/No), and Comments for coordination follow-ups.
- Export Empty Schedule to Excel: Utilizing Ideate BIMLink, we export a multi-category link of user parameters into an Excel (.xls) file, containing Element IDs for every object in the project.
- Import Schedule into Revit Using Ideate BIMLink: This step populates the RFI Schedule in Revit with Navisworks clash data, facilitating swift issue location and resolution. The schedule enables users to review, highlight, and isolate elements directly, marking resolved issues and adapting to design changes over time.
Key Benefits:
- Efficient and Streamlined Design Process: Early clash detection saves time, effort, and money during the entire BIM Execution Plan, streamlining the design process.
- Real-Time Collaboration: Our workflow promotes real-time collaboration between architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, and other professionals, enhancing overall project efficiency.
- Automated Integration: Utilizing advanced clash detection and design review tools like Navisworks, our approach automates the coordination process, leading to more efficient and functional building designs.
- Detailed Clash Reports: Architects have the power to identify and rectify clashes during the design review, minimizing the chances of project clashes during construction.
The Future of Clash Detection:
As we transition towards Level 3 BIM, clash detection software will become more powerful, facilitating real-time collaboration and coordination between various design disciplines. Our commitment to advancing clash detection technology ensures that our clients benefit from the latest industry advancements.
